16 May Sally’s Life Changed
Sally was a happy and very outgoing woman. Since childhood Sally never knew a stranger and was up to trying anything. Sally met Matt in college and knew this guy was her future. She dreamed of all the adventures they would have and people they would meet along the way. Sally and Matt married two years after college, both were blessed with dream careers which set them up to purchasing a home, new cars and vacation opportunities most only dream of. Life was blissful and both were happier than they ever dreamt.
Five years into their marriage Sally felt it was time to expand the family so the two began a journey that would change everything. Several months went by on the baby making journey and nothing was happening. Everything else in their lives just happened naturally so they both figured having a baby would just happen within the first month of trying. Six months in Sally wasn’t feeling well and of course thought it was the flu. When she went to see her doctor the nurse returned to the examination room with a smile on her face, yes, Sally heard those words that she had longed for, “You are pregnant” and so the journey began. Everyone was so happy to hear the news. Months into the pregnancy began baby showers, doula searches and labor classes, breastfeeding classes and all the books they were to read. At one of the classes a lady came in to talk about Placenta Encapsulation and the benefits to mom. Sally was intrigued by the information and wanted a personal consultation to find out more. Matt surprisingly wanted nothing to do with any of that and was determined Sally was not going to EAT her placenta!!!! Nevertheless Sally made that appointment and learned all about the benefits it offered her as well as the keepsakes she definitely wanted. Upon returning home she was so excited to tell Matt all she had learned but unbeknownst to her he was angry that she even went since he specifically told her NO!
Weeks went by before Sally would bring up the subject again. When she felt the time was right she slowly introduced the advantages of Placenta Encapsulation and informed Matt they could freeze the placenta for six months just in case they changed their minds. Matt’s mood turned on a dime and he said once and for all “No, you are not doing that. You are not bringing that thing home and putting it in our freezer, you are not ingesting that because you are not an animal and I would never kiss you again if you did.” Sally brought up the keepsakes and again Matt yelled “No, why would anyone want that on their walls or to keep and look at such a thing?” Sally began to cry and felt empty as if her desires meant nothing and only Matt’s mattered.
It was time, Sally’s water broke and her labor pains were strong right off the bat. Matt rushed her to the hospital with great anticipation of the birth of their first child. Hours pasted which seemed like days to them both and then finally baby Gabby was born. Beautiful, soft and tender and such a sight for sore eyes. A life brought into this world and parents with such wonder as to all they would teach her and all she would become.
Once more before the labor room was cleaned Sally brought up the subject to Matt, thinking the nostalgia of the moment would change his mind even if it was to freeze the placenta for just a few months in thoughts that if she needed it there would be that chance he would allow her to do it. Allow her…. her thoughts wondered because no one had ever had that control over her life before, she made her own choices especially for her body. Matt turned angry again and said it wasn’t up for discussion and that the answer was NO! She was crushed to see her only chance for at least a keepsake gone forever.
After 24 hours the hospital released the new family to begin their lives this was to be a grand time and full of just joy and happiness, right? Sally felt down and just sad. She cried when looking at Gabby, just not believing how beautiful she was and just how perfect. God blessed her with such a beautiful little piece of heaven. As days passed Sally was so tired and with no energy she felt down as if she was doing something wrong. With such a beautiful gift how could she feel so down all the time. Matt noticed of course and told her she better get over it and cheer up or people would feel she wasn’t a good mother. Sally tried and at times put on a fake smile to make Matt happy. Sally thought maybe she better get over it maybe it was because she wanted to encapsulate her placenta and didn’t, maybe it was the keepsakes she wanted and now would never have. Sally wanted to hold Gabby and breastfeed, but her milk wouldn’t come in enough to feed her so Gabby cried a lot. Sally called the lactation consultant and worked with her for a bit, but Gabby cried a lot and was losing weight. Sally felt she wasn’t a good mom and something was wrong with her body. Matt was angry because she should do whatever to naturally feed their little girl. At the 6 week check up and pediatrician suggested trying formula and to keep pumping in case she could go back to the breast. Matt was furious that Sally couldn’t do the one thing their baby needed.
The next day Sally went to the grocery store and bought the suggested can formula for Gabby. She took to it right away. She was happier because she was getting what she needed. Sally decided not to pump. Matt being angry just let it be. Sally thought now she would feel better, but didn’t and could not understand why. She began to study more about Placenta Encapsulation and after reading everything she could get her hands on she called the Placenta Encapsulation Specialist she had met. Sally explained to her what was going on and asked again with her experience what has she seen in the clients she had throughout the years? Sally then knew she should have just kept it and let Matt be angry, heck, he was anyway.
As time went on Sally began to see a counselor for her emotional feelings. It helped, but something was off. Life at home wasn’t what it should have been and that just added to her frustration all around. Matt started working longer hours and taking business trips he had not taken before. After a bit he wasn’t home more than he was so they began to grow apart. Sally began to do her own thing. She joined mommy groups and she began to take vacations with just her and Gabby. Sally began to feel better and bond better to her baby and new life.
After returning home early from one of her vacations with Gabby, Sally noticed a car in their driveway. Matt’s car was gone so she pulled into the garage and parked. Sally felt the hood and it was cool so the car had been there for a bit she guessed. Sally took the baby in and gave her a bath to settle down for her nap. Shortly, Matt pulled up with a very pretty redhead, as they got out of his car she walked around to embrace him and gave him a very passionate kiss. Sally stood at the window in awe of what she was seeing. Matt held this woman and kissed her unlike anything he had ever done with her. Being that Sally already had her phone in her hand she began to record everything. This went on for what seemed to be hours, but yet was only about 15 minutes before she left. Thank God Sally got her license plate number. After Red pulled out, Matt walked in to be greeted by Sally holding the phone. He knew it was a done deal. Sally told him to leave and she would have all his things sent to where ever he wanted. Matt, without hesitation, left.
At once Sally hired an attorney and divorce proceedings begun. Matt didn’t fight for anything, he let Sally have full custody of Gabby, the house, house boat and RV. Things moved very fast and before she knew it everything was done and she began to make decisions about her future. One thing that always bothered Sally like many women are the what ifs. She felt things were good until she got pregnant and her desires began to change as well as her sadness after birth. Could placenta encapsulation had worked, would it had helped, Sally knew she would not know the answers her heart searched for.
Sally decided to pack everything up and move to Paris where she could begin her dream in art and design. She wanted to open a Art House and give new upcoming artist a leg up. After selling everything and saying good-bye to her family her and Gabby flew to Paris to begin a new exciting life.
